EXPERIMENT 002: Leather Belongs on Your Desk
This is a continuation of the conversation we started with Poşet: leather is not luxury. It's a byproduct of the meat industry, and it deserves a better second life than being reserved for status objects.
Experiment 001 gave us a strong signal: people want that same conversation applied to more of daily life. So we asked: what if we started with the surfaces you touch for hours every day? Your desk. Your keyboard. Your mouse. Your coffee cup.
Most desk setups lean on plastic, vinyl mats, synthetic pads, materials that don't age and don't belong anywhere near your hands for eight hours a day. This set proposes something else: a natural, more responsible upgrade using real river buffalo leather, worked simply and left mostly alone.
This is still an experiment. If it earns your approval, it becomes a permanent part of the catalogue, proof that leather can be an everyday material, not an occasional luxury, and accessible enough to belong in any home or office.

This is a full-grain milled buffalo — river buffalo hide that carries a substance and presence unlike anything calfskin can offer.
Sourced from river buffalo and tanned through a combination belting process, this leather is built with a structural integrity that announces itself the moment you handle it. At 8 oz. and 3.2mm, it has the density and weight of leather made to endure, not just years of use, but decades. The milling process works the full-grain surface to introduce a natural, organic texture that softens the hand to semi-soft without sacrificing the hide's inherent solidity. It yields just enough to feel considered in the hand, while holding its structure exactly where it needs to.
A semi-aniline finish preserves the natural character of the river buffalo grain, allowing the hide's authentic markings and depth to remain visible beneath a surface that offers just a touch more resilience than a fully aniline leather. The semi-gloss finish gives it an understated sheen, not lacquered, not matte, but quietly luminous in the way that only well-made leather can be.
